@Trevor and @Stacy, could you provide more details about why it's harder to find older concerts now than it was before?

In Stacy's example, I searched for "First Avenue 2007" and selected "Concerts" from the dropdown. The results I got were all concerts from First Avenue in 2007, which is what I would expect. For this particular search you might also be better off browsing to the First Avenue venue page, going to their 'Years' screen, and browsing all of their 2007 concerts rather than using the search.

Using more specific search terms is going to result in better search results. For example, including the band name like "Prince First Avenue 2007".

Hi everybody, I thought I'd give you all an update on this one.

We've done a lot of work on this over the last couple of years, but this is the sort of project that is going to be ongoing pretty far into the future.

    Things that have been done:

    • Added the 'Report Issue' functionality to the website (in the navigation) where users can report duplicates that they come across
    • Added admin tools to merge duplicate Bands/Venues/Locations/Concerts when we find them or when a user reports them.
    • Created 'aliases' behind the scenes for Bands/Venues/Locations so that any duplicates that we merge won't pop up again in the future as duplicates.
    • We now verify locations against the external Geonames database to standardize them.
    • Implemented a location verification step after a concert is created to prompt the user to verify and standardize the location that they entered.
    • Reviewed all of the locations…

@Justine Baddeley, we're working on a way to separate out concerts that 'appear' to be duplicates (same band, date, venue, location) but really aren't. We'll be implementing a new option where you'll be able to mark a band as an 'Early Show', 'After Party', etc and that will keep them from being merged together. Hopefully we'll have that released in July.

A slight improvement related to this is that you can now 'tag' a photo after you've uploaded it to mark it as a 'gig poster'. This doesn't add the functionality that you were hoping for yet, but it's a step in the right direction :)

There is now a graph on the Overview page and Years pages showing how many concerts you've gone to per year :)

The best way to handle this currently would be to create a separate venue for the original 9:30 Club. I don't know enough about the history to know what the best name would be but something like "9:30 Club (Atlantic Building)" would work. That way you can delineate all of the concerts at the 'original' location and all the people who don't know the history can add their concerts to the regular '9:30 Club' listing.

Can somebody post a link to their Last.fm concert listing? I haven't used Last.fm for this, so I'm not familiar with what's possible there.

It's not an ideal solution but in the meantime a pretty good workaround is to create a separate concert for each day of the festival. As in a concert for "Sasquatch Festival Day 1" another for "Sasquatch Festival Day 2", etc. That'll solve all the issues mentioned for the time being.

Is the goal just to record & remember who you went with? If so, you could use the new 'Private Comments' feature to save this information for the time being.

There are a couple of different requests here, so I'll address them separately:

    - Reordering bands: This has now been added! You can re-order to your heart's content :)

    - Editing bands: I can see how this can be annoying but it's by design. The way the system is set up, if you had the ability to edit a typo in the band that would actually edit that band name across the entire database. Sometimes that's a good thing, but it can lead to big problems. Like if somebody accidentally changed the band 'U2' to 'Sheryl Crow'. Then every U2 concert would be changed to Sheryl Crow! I'll look at different ways to handle this in the future, but that's the reason it's like that :)

    Hi everybody 👋

It seems there are 2 different topics being discussed here.

    1. The issue where setlists get incorrectly loaded for certain bands. This is usually for bands with a common name like DYLAN and Queen. We released a backend feature recently to fix these! If you come across any more examples you can email us at [email protected] and we can easily get those artists' setlists properly linked up!
    2. The second request is for users to be able to manually edit a setlist. We're planning to add this in the future but it hasn't made it to the top of our roadmap and priority list yet. I know it sounds like a simple feature, but there are a lot of pieces and user interface to build out for this. We'll get there, but as a tiny, self-funded team we can only take on so many projects at a time 😅

Thanks for the suggestion! In the meantime, you can put the setlist in the 'Notes' field for that concert.

The best way to deal with this currently would be to create a separate venues for the main room and the secondary room. For example the new venue would be "The Trocadero Theatre - The Balcony" vs "The Trocadero Theatre". Make sense?

Adding features specifically for festivals is something we definitely want to do!

Please post your ideas about what features you’d like to see and we’ll take them under consideration when we start our planning for this.

    Thank you!
    Justin

    Thanks for the suggestion!

Other users have also brought up the issue where setlists might be wrong for multi-day concerts. The best workaround I've seen somebody do so far is to create a separate concert for each day of the festival. For example "Bonaroo Day 1". That way they can add the bands that they saw that day and the setlists will be correct. Same for "Bonaroo Day 2", etc.
